Phoenix was bred, born, and raised at Freedom Equine. He is nicknamed “The Prince” because of this stellar personality. Phoenix was extremely easy to start. With very little round pen time, he was ridden out in the arena at a walk, trot, and canter on his second ride.
Phoenix is the go-to horse for almost everything. As a 2 year old, he was used as a Core horse in Core Partnership (it takes a special horse to be selected as a Core horse, let alone at 2 years old). He has been a part of every Core Partnership since then. Phoenix placed 3 out of 15 horses at Escalante Canyon Trail Trials. He was used as a high school graduation project: the project consisted of Phoenix being trained and ridden bridleless (in the arena, out on trail, and jumping).
Phoenix has experience moving cows, being roped off of, and dragging calves to the fire. He has participated in Ranch Versatility shows (and placed 4, 5, and 3 overall). He has done gymkhanas, play days, and moonlight rides.
Phoenix is the instructor’s horse at clinics and demonstrates finished work. He also teaches inexperienced riders what soft, supple, and responsive feels like, both under saddle and at the end of a lead rope. Phoenix supports and is the steady horse for colts and inexperienced horses. He is also an expert in Clinton Anderson’s Fundamentals and Intermediate series.
